Description

The Early Tall Clock, that sits proudly in the Meeker Homestead Museum Drawing Room, is an important artifact in the collection of the Delaware County Historical Society.  The provenance is well documented with a clear Delaware Story. It was brought to Delaware County by the ancestors of the Snyder Starr Family when they carried it over the Appalachian Mountains to Delaware.

The clock was originally purchased by Aaron Snyder (Great, Great Uncle of Edward Snyder Starr) in German Town Pennsylvania in 1758.  It was made by Augustine Neifner, a Philadelphia clock maker (1717-1780).

The case is Chippendale Mahogany.  The face is a cast metal brass face that has been both engraved and painted.  The phases of the moon appear on the dial.
