Delaware Co Historical Sociey has new Exec Dir Donna MeyersThe Delaware County Historical Society has hired its first two full-time paid employees — an executive director and a venue manager.

In preparation for the society’s planned operation of the Meeker Homestead, located at 2690 Stratford Road, the Historical Society has hired Donna Meyer as executive director. A former Historical Society board member, Meyer will manage the day-to-day operations of the society.

Hired in October, venue manager Connie Hoffman is managing the new event facility, The Barn at Stratford, which will operate in the Garth Oberlander barn.

The historic Meeker Homestead, one of the first in Delaware County, dating to the early 1800s, was donated to the Historical Society in 2010 by Carolyn and the late Tom Porter. The society will be furthering its educational mission by offering tours, programs and museum exhibits on the property.

The Barn at Stratford, an event venue for weddings, receptions, business meetings and social gatherings, will generate funds for the upkeep of the property.

A Delaware County native, Meyer was previously employed by SourcePoint in the communications department and has extensive nonprofit management experience. She has served as a Historical Society board member for six years and has chaired the communication committee. She lives in the Radnor area.

Hoffman, a lifelong county resident, has an extensive background in event planning for Delaware County venues, such as The Arts Festival, the Arts Castle, the Delaware County Fair and the former downtown business group, Celebrate Delaware.
