The Delaware County Historical Society announces a Free Community History Program:
“Before Supermarkets: Grocery stores 1850 – 1950”

At The Barn at Stratford
Brent Carson will share stories and images in this history program of early Delaware County grocery stores and how they evolved over time.
These stories will include information gathered at the 2015 Delaware County Fair The Historical Society exhibit featured Delaware County grocery stores. Fair visitors were encouraged to draw diagrams of the interior of stores and share their memories of the grocery stores they visited when young. The response from those visitors was a flood of drawings and stories. Many of the visitors had questions about the grocery stores which inspired the society embark on additional research.
