The Delaware County Historical Society presents
The Underground Railroad in Delaware County
at 7:00 pm in The Barn at Stratford
You are invited to attend an hour-long Public Presentation to hear excerpts from the three-hour program created for school use in support of state curriculum requirements.
After the enactment of the Fugitive Slave Law of 1850, many Delaware County residents took part in the Underground Railroad. They helped runaway slaves to be “conducted” through Ohio seeking freedom as they worked their way to safe areas in the north.
Presenting this program in February is an especially fitting Black History Month activity. The program shows the care and humane treatment between Americans, black and white, during this historic emancipating era.
