Historical Society board members and other volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about the history of the property and the society’s plans going forward. The group recently announced that the house will serve as a museum, and the Barn at Stratford will be offered as a venue for weddings, receptions, corporate events and other occasions. In connection with these plans, longtime historical society volunteer Donna Meyer recently was hired as the DCHS’s first-ever paid director, and Connie Hoffman, a lifelong Delaware County resident with an extensive background in event planning, was hired to manage The Barn at Stratford.
The property, which for years operated as Garth’s Auctions, was a gift to the Delaware County Historical Society from Garth’s former owners, Carolyn and the late Tom Porter. The house and barn are on Stratford Road at the intersection of U.S. 23 on Delaware’s south side.
