The Delaware County Historical Society  announces a special presentation
At Risk / Restored / Repurposed - The Power of Place - History Program - Delaware County Historical Society - Delaware OhioHISTORIC PRESERVATION – THE POWER OF PLACE

by Barbara Powers, the administrator of the National Register of Historic Places program in Ohio. Barbara also manages the Ohio Historic Inventory, and Ohio Archaeological Inventory Programs for Ohio History Connection.

Tuesday, August 7 at 7pm in The Barn at Stratford

The Power of Place is defined as how our surroundings shape our thoughts, emotions, and actions.

“A community’s appeal drives economic prosperity.” – Edward McMahon The Distinctive City

It will not be necessary to destroy a community’s unique character just to initiate change and growth.

A sense of place is what makes one community’s qualities and characteristics worth caring about.

What do you think about your community? Whatever it is, it is important.

Is it beautiful? Is it full of historic structures and designations?

A community is more than a spot on the map.

The image of a community is fundamentally important to its financial well-being.

Ms. Powers will be displaying photos of important places that reflect this Power of Place
