DELAWARE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
PUTTING GRANT FUNDS TO GOOD USE
Results Can Be Seen at The Barn at Stratford and Meeker House Museum
DELAWARE, Ohio – In recent months, the Delaware County Historical Society has been awarded money from various grant funds at the Delaware County Foundation. These have enabled the Society to make several enhancements at the Meeker Homestead in Stratford.
Last fall, the Society received $1000 from the Del-Co Water Community Fund of the Delaware County Foundation. As a result, five display cases were constructed, and are now being used for the first time in the streetcar and interurban railway special exhibit. This exhibit is currently on display at the Meeker House Museum, open to the public every Sunday afternoon, 2 to 5 p.m.
Two additional grants were recently awarded from the Delaware County Foundation:
- The Ron Sabatino Family Fund grant for $6000 was used to improve the gazebo behind the barn. The work on the gazebo included installing a concrete foundation pad and walkway, and enhancing the landscaping with additional plantings. The attractive outdoor space was completed in time for the spring and summer weddings being held at the Barn at Stratford. - The Foundation’s Andrew A. Urban Family Fund granted $750 for the signage for two permanent displays and a pictorial exhibit in the museum.
“We are pleased to facilitate these grants that enhance the Delaware County Historical Society’s presence in Delaware and Delaware County. It shows how grants, no matter what their size, can be incorporated into the Society’s new facilities.”
said Marlene Casini, president of the Delaware County Foundation.
